ISO 9001

The ISO 9001 standard is part of the ISO 9000 series of standards, relating to quality management systems. It gives the organisational requirements needed to ensure that a quality management system is in place.

ISO 9001 standard: 2008

The current version of ISO 9001 is the version dated 2008 (11/2008). The requirements there related to four major areas:

Management's responsibilities: requirement for certificates on the part of the management as the key permanent player in the approach.

Quality system: administrative requirements which ensure that assets are protected. Requirements to take account of basic knowledge of the system.

Process: requirements relating to the identification and management of the processes that make a contribution to the satisfaction of interested parties.

On-going improvement: requirements for measuring and recording performance at all useful levels as well as undertaking efficient progress actions.
